Here is an essay from middle America, used to be stockyard city. I don't know if it still is or not, but I do know they still recognize bull---- when they see it.
Big lie on Iraq comes full circle
One of the most dangerous men in America, Mr Ashcroft, continues selling his snake oil proposal which says that if you deny freedom to
291,993,011 law-a-biding citizens you will catch the 19 who have evil intent on their minds and want to do another 9/11.
I do not believe this and I've not even been contacted by any library association.
I believe the intent is something else than what Mr Ashcroft is saying it is. I believe it has something to to with the 291,993,011 citizens and not the 19 evil doers.
Ashcroft Mocks Librarians and Others Who Oppose Parts of Counterterrorism Law
I believe it is time for people who try to live according to the soft squishy ideals of peace, justice, equality and yes, love, to speak up. I do not to want to remain among the silent.

Exploiting the Atrocity
Horray, it's becoming possible to be critical of Pres Bush without fear of having one's home firebombed by patriots.
The Salt Lake Tribune -- Bush won't change
Maybe I wasn't paying attention to Bush's national TV address last evening, but I did not hear one reference to G-d as a motive for being in Iraq, nor were there any code words for the Christian right. However, this past week I received a campaign mailing and Bush in his lead letter make strong use of the phrase, "A charge to keep," and explains it's source. I wonder why the absence of religious talk last evening? The closing phrase, "and may G-d continue to bless the United States Of America," (quoted correctly?) was not presented in a religious sense, to my mind. Any comments?
Putting the American in 'American Muslim': "But Americans, too, must play a role. They cannot allow events overseas to foster anti-Muslim sentiments and Islamophobia at home. They must recognize the insecurities and fears of their Muslim neighbors and extend a hand of friendship and support. The choices we face are tough, but Muslims must realize that the interests of our sons and daughters, who are American, must come before the interests of our brothers and sisters, whether they are Palestinian, Kashmiri or Iraqi. Only then will Muslims in America become American Muslims.

Google has introduced a Beta news alert. I'm using it and I believe many people will find this service useful. I believe it is an important addition to a service I've come to think of as "Google University." Certainly I'm having more fun than I ever did at University of New Hampshire, and I believe I'm learning at a similar rate. What's missing is the presence and guidance of professors such as Maxie Maynard and Prof Dagget, people who proded me to think, not just learn.

I'm trying to post this as close to six PM EDT as possible. To me Paul Hill is more of a threat to the security of USA than Osama Bin Laden. Both listen to God who tells them to kill non belivers, there are are many more like minded Paul Hills in USA than Osama Bin Ladens.
