Curious Mind

The human mind understands such a small sliver of the information contained in the universe. How can humans make progress towards understanding what is really going on?

I've become an old man taking care of my wife and a stray cat, Lucy. But, I'm very happy because I now have time to watch and listen. Here's a story. Janet, who stayed with us for two months, is deaf. That's how I got to know Janet because I was taking signing classes and I learned she lived near me. Janet made gutteral sounds to get the attention of hearing people when she wanted sign or indicate some information. Janet participated as one of the family, not a guest. So she fed the Lucy, let Lucy in and out on a long leash, patted Lucy and played with Lucy. Janet was often alone in the house with Lucy. About three weeks before Janet left for CT with her sister Dori I noticed that Lucy was making different cat calls then before. As I took note, I noticed that there were quite a few new sounds that Lucy was using for different occassions or activities. It wasn't till Janet had been gone for a week that I realized that Lucy was learning these new sounds from Janet. Wonderful, eh?.......bye for now..........henry Posted by Hello
