Wilma

The report from our location here in Punta Gorda today is a bright blue skies , cool temps and calm winds. Perfect weather. However, our spirits are severly dampened by the destruction and misery just to the south and east of us. The loss of possessions, including homes, is great, but also very large is the loss of crops and employment for a vast portion of our population here in southern Florida. It is a blow from which there is no easy or quick fix. For many, the suffering has only begun. henry

HENRY & PAT: GLAD THE STORM IS OVER AND YOU FOLKS ARE FINE AND THE WEATHER IS SUNNY. WE HAD QUITE A DISASTER COME IN TUESDAY A NORTHEASTER FROM WILMA AND PILED WITH ANYWHERE FROM 6 TO 2 FT OF WET SNOW TAKING DOWN THE TREES THAT STILL HAVE THEIR LEAVES. I WAS WITHOUT HEAT OR ELECTRICITY FOR 35 HOURS AND AT THIS WRITING THERE ARE AREAS WITHOUT POWER OF HEAT...MY BACK YARD A DISASTER ALL THE NEIGHBORS TREES DOWN ON ME....
I WONDER WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THE SUGAR ORCHARDS AND IF WIPED OUT.
TAKE CARE AND SO GLAD ALL IS WELL WITH YOU AND SORRY FOR THE POOR PEOPLE IN THE EYE OF THE STORM. DLK
