The human mind understands such a small sliver of the information contained in the universe. How can humans make progress towards understanding what is really going on?

What a nice idea for the kids who live next to our park to come by and give us a Halloween trick or treat. I didn't suspect or was even thinking about trick or treat, but I passed my private stock candy jar around and it seemed to work OK. I sure thanked each of this group for paying us a call this evening.
Reading and Writing is the subject of my new Blog, vicopresscom. It is a result of my new web business, vicopress.com, which is a reading and writing web page. Vicopress.com will sell books by local authors, including my poetry chapbooks. But the intesting thing is that vicopress.com will have weekly columns by writers about reading and writing. A new adventure. The first column is by James Abraham, writing about self-publishing. James will be doing a weekly book review. Take a look at www.vicopresscom.blogspot.com Tell me what you think. Click on the blue highlighted time at the end of this post and send me a commnet. Try it........bye for now, henry
This is new series of pictures that will be part of a story that will extend into next summer. Let's call it the end of Henry's driveway story. Today I'll show you what I see from the end of my driveway. Later as new mobile homes are installed I'll do an update on the driveway story. I'll show you some of the construction features that allow a new mobile home park about 2 miles away and nearer the center of Charley's eye than we are to survive without the loss of a single home. They had some damage to carports and vinly siding, but not any of the homes were damaged to be unlivable or repairable.........
This is looking East from the end of our driveway. The yellow house I don't know about, and the second one I don't know about, but the third one will survive.
This is looking South on our street. The first home is Eleanor's and is going to be OK. The second one I don't know about, but the third one will survive.
This is looking north. The blue ribbons are on the guy wire that is straightening our tree. The next house may be OK. The third house is being gutted and will be demolished. Next is a lot that has already been cleared. The mobile home on the end will be comming down in a few days. So two out of five survived.
Here we see the two lots all cleaned off and ready for the new mobile homes to be installed. The large white building will be comming down next. To it's left you see a blank space where the office mobile home was located. It came down last week. After the white building is down then a 40x100 foot steel wood interior building that has been ordered will be installed.
From left to right, Jean Houser, Pat Stevens and James Abraham. Today at quilt class. Pat takes this class on Tuesday afternoon about year round. They are eight week classes and start again after a few weeks break. Jean is a regular, as is Pat. James is a friend of mine who is a newspaper editorial writer. We often meet on Tuesdays to talk about reading and writing. We've been doing it about 4 years.
I've become an old man taking care of my wife and a stray cat, Lucy. But, I'm very happy because I now have time to watch and listen. Here's a story. Janet, who stayed with us for two months, is deaf. That's how I got to know Janet because I was taking signing classes and I learned she lived near me. Janet made gutteral sounds to get the attention of hearing people when she wanted sign or indicate some information. Janet participated as one of the family, not a guest. So she fed the Lucy, let Lucy in and out on a long leash, patted Lucy and played with Lucy. Janet was often alone in the house with Lucy. About three weeks before Janet left for CT with her sister Dori I noticed that Lucy was making different cat calls then before. As I took note, I noticed that there were quite a few new sounds that Lucy was using for different occassions or activities. It wasn't till Janet had been gone for a week that I realized that Lucy was learning these new sounds from Janet. Wonderful, eh?.......bye for now..........henry
"Brush your teeth every day don't eat candy no cavities." Sidewalk art outside the Paradise Dental office. Pat and I were there to get our teeth cleaned on Monday.
The pictures the other day of Eleanor sitting beneath her grapefruit tree prompted a question about what she was sitting on. Here is the story on the bench on the patio between our properties.
Monday 10/18/2004 A quiet day at home today. Unusual. Here are couple of tips about these posts. One, if you click on a picture, it will open in a new window as a larger picture. You will also then have the chance to save it to disk, print it, email it or save it to your hard drive. The second item is that if you click on the link at the bottom of the post where it says henry and time of day in blue, a window will open up where you can email a comment to me. Give it a try..........bye for now, henry.
